AC Milan will conduct their summer transfer window with an eye on Italian players who could come in and serve a dual purpose, a report claims.
MilanNews reports how signing players from abroad can be useful in terms of the Growth Decree tax relief scheme which offers a discount on the gross amount, but Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will also have to look at the market in Italy, i.e. those players who meet squad list requirements.
UEFA and Serie A regulations require each team to have four players who came through the academy of that club and four players who are ‘home grown’, meaning they played from ages 18 to 21 at another club in that country.
Losing Alessio Romagnoli and Franck Kessie is a blow to this (came through at Sampdoria and Atalanta respectively) and with Antonio Mirante’s renewal in doubt, something must be done to address things.
Italian academy graduates: Florenzi (who will be bought permanently), Tonali.
Milan academy graduates: Calabria, Gabbia, Pobega, Daniel Maldini, Plizzari (returning from loan).
If the above turns out to be true then Milan would need at least one other player who is home-grown and that could create issues given that prices for players within Serie A (look at Zaniolo and several Sassuolo players) are often inflated.
Romagnoli, one move resolves everything. I was against his renewal at one point but it makes sense now, especially after Botman price went up and we will not get him.
Romagnoli has reached his peak and is arguably on the decline, it would be better to get a young CB we can develop for much lower wages.
Agreed and a younger player may accept a spot on the bench more easily.
We have Kalulu for that role. Romagnoli is for backup.
go for belloti and it will solve the problem
Just sign Belotti. He comes for free and we already need one more striker.
Viti for a young centre half and Belotti for striker would solve this.
It’s nothing short of a miracle that we won the title with such a right wing.
Last season, the products of our right wing was quite low. Neither Messias nor Saelemaekers left major impact offensively.
Due to that, I would say that Milan needs to invest in either Zaniolo or Berardi. Nothing less.
As for the defense, wait until January, and get Bremmer for half the current asking price. We can manage well until then with Gabbia.
At least I would take the risk.
