The AC Milan management must make an investment in a young centre-forward this summer to ensure the department is sorted for the future, a journalist has claimed.

Stefano Pioli has had to ask Olivier Giroud to work plenty of overtime during the current season due to Divock Origi struggling to contribute because of injury problems and Zlatan Ibrahimovic being out for eight months.
Pietro Mazzara has written a column for MilanNews in which he addressed the need for a new centre-forward to be acquired prior to next season, with it being a long time since an investment was made in a striker.
“Regardless of how the season will end, during the next summer transfer market Milan will not be able to avoid making a large investment in a young and strong striker,” he said.
“The need is now clear, the age of Giroud (who will eventually renew his contract) and a still anonymous Origi require an important turning point for the role of striker.
“A signing like Inter did with Lautaro Martinez would be needed, because the need to invest in a name and that this can be the present and future of Milan is fundamental. Maldini and Massara are probably already working on this issue and they too know well how it is a pick that they can’t go wrong with.”
It comes after the Rossoneri were linked with a move for Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta earlier today. The 20-year-old has impressed in his first season in Serie A and could well be the next big-money sale that the Bergamo club make.
