AC Milan appear to have made their decision to sign Divock Origi for the centre-forward role and the reasons for doing so are several-fold, a report claims.
MilanNews recalls how the weight of the entire attack has been on Olivier Giroud’s shoulders since 23 January, when Zlatan Ibrahimovic was injured in the match against Juventus. The Frenchman has played each of the last 11 games between Serie A and the Coppa Italia and while his condition has been reassuring, at almost 36 years old he cannot be expected to start so often.
The January signing of Marko Lazetic who is only 18 and the physical problems Ante Rebic has had means that there simply has been no alternative, which has prompted the management to move ahead of the summer.
The management have turned to Divock Origi who is a player that is younger than the other options in the squad currently (bar Lazetic), has experience in the biggest games (he scored in a Champions League final) and is looking for a more prominent role to finally show off with ample playing time.
The negotiations with the player’s entourage are at an advanced stage and there is an agreement in principle, so the Belgian should be the first reinforcement in view of next season.
