GdS: Milan willing to quadruple pay of Leao to secure renewal – the possible meeting point

AC Milan remain confident that they will be able to agree the renewal of Rafael Leao in the coming weeks, according to a report.

According to what is being reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) this morning, Milan’s confidence in finding an agreement over extending Leao’s deal – currently set to expire in June 2024 – remains intact.

The Rossoneri are ready to offer him a salary four times his current one, which would see him go from €1.5m net per season to €6m, something that would also be useful to help pay off the fine to Sporting CP.

An agreement could be found at €6.5m, which is halfway between the player’s demands and the latest offer from Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara.

In the meantime Leao keeps dropping clues on social media suggesting that he is very attached to Milan, while head coach Stefano Pioli made his stance clear on what would be the best course of action for the winger.

“In the most absolute way, I advise him to stay. We’ve done a lot together but I don’t think any of us have yet reached their maximum potential. Rafa has had incredible development, exponential and continuous growth but there are aspects in which he can work with even more quality and intensity. Do it with us, in a context that by now he knows very well, he will be able to facilitate it. And then he is happy here,” he said.
