Report claims Milan could do more business with Salzburg after enquiry over midfielder

AC Milan are eyeing one more midfield signing to ensure quality depth for Stefano Pioli and they could negotiate with Red Bull Salzburg again, a report claims.

Milan have already knocked on Salzburg’s door this summer having completed the signing of Noah Okafor for the attack over the weekend, but they have also set their sights on midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath.

Looking at the current composition of the midfield, the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijnders, Rade Krunic, Tommaso Pobega and the injured Ismael Bennacer all give their best as box-to-box players, so a deeper-lying presence could be needed.

According to DerbyDerbyDerby, the Rossoneri scouts have identified Gourna-Douath as the ideal man for the central role in a three-man midfield, and there could well be good relations to rely on based on the Okafor deal.

Milan asked Salzburg for information on the 19-year-old Frenchman, who came through Saint-Etienne’s academy. In the summer of 2022, he moved to Salzburg for around €13m and made 33 appearances last season, making his Champions League debut against Milan.
