Sport: Barcelona eyeing RB Salzburg striker Milan have been working to sign for weeks

AC Milan have been working for some time to try and secure the signing of Red Bull Salzburg striker Roko Simic but now face competition, a report claims.

Sport in Spain report how the management of Barcelona are looking to sign some young gems with the potential to become future stars and they had an eye on the UEFA Youth League final, which was played last Sunday in Nyon.

The game was played between Benfica and Red Bull Salzburg and it ended with a spectacular 6-0 win for the Portuguese side, and despite the fact his side did not score it was Roko Simic – son of former Milan defender Dario Simic – who caught the eye.

Simic has already made his debut in the Champions League this season for the senior side playing three minutes, having scored 13 goals in the 19 games in the Second Division of Austria on loan, adding 7 goals and 3 assists in the Youth League.

Barcelona are now keen on signing him but the report adds that ‘Milan have been working for weeks to sign him’.

Calciomercato.com reported last October that the 18-year-old is a player that has been followed by Milan for some time and – having been born in the city – the striker confirmed he would like to return to play for Milan: “Milan with Dinamo Zagreb are my greatest love. I dream of wearing the Rossoneri shirt.
