Milan have struggled to get the best from Gimenez. He arrived in top form, shining in Europe and looking like a consistent goalscorer. However, the wheels gradually came off and his injury last season was a summary of the move.
An unfortunate situation which just never seemed to get better and went on much longer than had been hoped for.
Indeed, the Mexican quickly faded into the background and he has not managed to find his way out of it. Unfortunately, it has been the same with the national team picture, too.
Gimenez’s fee revealed
Before the World Cup, the striker stated that Mexico would win the World Cup with him being the top goalscorer. However, his minutes have been limited and he hasn’t come close to scoring. As you’d imagine, this hasn’t helped the interest in him.
So, Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanVibes) report that the Rossoneri will ask for at least €21 million – his minimum value – to sell him this summer. They may push for more, but with a lack of interest so far, their position is not great.
It doesn’t seem unreasonable to seek that figure, though, so there can be hope that someone will make a move…
