From Spain: Milan star Tonali among three options as Real Madrid look for Modric’s heir

AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali has ended up in the sights of Real Madrid but not for an immediate assault, according to a report from Spain.

Fichajes are reporting that Florentino Pérez wants to find the best pieces to replace Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric who are all coming to the end of their careers in the next year or two. Casemiro’s replacement is sorted in Aurélien Tchouaméni, while Toni Kroos’ spot should be taken by Eduardo Camavinga.

That leaves the question of how to replace the Ballon d’Or winner Modric who should play one last season for Los Blancos in 2022-23. Despite having Federico Valverde, Real Madrid want a more creative midfielder and they are willing to make a significant investment, but next summer rather than this year.

There are several names on their radar such as Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Nicolo Barella (Inter) and Tonali (Milan). After Rafael Leao, therefore, it seems another young Milan star might have to answer calls from the Spanish capital.
