AC Milan’s disciplinary record in the 2023-24 season so far leaves a lot to be desired, with the latest issue coming during last night’s loss against Juventus.
Malick Thiaw’s red card in the 40th minute of the game affected the outcome of the game against Juve as they lost top spot to Inter, while at the same time taking top spot in a more unfavourable ranking.
Milan have now had three red cards in the first nine league games of the season. Fikayo Tomori got the first for a double yellow against Roma, then Mike Maignan received one in Genoa and finally Thiaw got one last night.
No one in Serie A has more red cards than Milan, which perhaps isn’t unsurprising given that Stefano Pioli’s side are currently averaging one every three games.
The situation does not improve when looking at the overall count of cards as Milan have received 22 yellows this season in the league.
Only Juve (24) and Salernitana (23) have more, but adding reds moves Milan top on 25 total cards ahead of Juve and Genoa (both 24).
