A statement on the club’s official website confirmed that Ibrahimović underwent arthroscopic surgery of the left knee at the UPMC Salvator Mundi International Hospital in Rome. The Swede damaged his knee in Milan’s win over Juventus last month, which sparked fears as to whether he could be set for another long spell away from the game.

According to MilanLive, the estimated times for his full recovery is 8 weeks in total. The first part will be absolute rest, and then the next part will involve physiotherapy and then work on the field to regain an adequate shape.

It won’t be easy for a nearly 40-year-old athlete, but everyone knows Ibrahimovic’s unlimited strength and desire. The program drawn up with the doctors and with the Milan staff will see him return to Milanello around 8 July, when most of the squad will meet for the start of the retreat.

Ibrahimovic will start the recovery plan in July without any hurry or risk and is not expected to play any preseason friendlies, but Ibra wants to be there on 29 August when the next Serie A season starts.
