MN: Jonathan David is the ‘bargain of the summer’ – why Milan should act on their interest

AC Milan have held interest in Jonathan David for several years, but they have never taken the final step in acquiring the Canadian. This summer, though, they have the chance to do so for a ‘bargain’ price, a report has claimed.

The 2024 summer mercato will be an intriguing market to watch when looking at strikers, given several high-value forwards are linked with transfers. As a result, several dominos could fall. This comes at the worst possible time for Milan, with the Rossoneri looking destined to add to their ranks in the upcoming window.

As the days pass, Olivier Giroud’s future with the Diavolo seems to fade away, and Luka Jovic has not fully assured the senior figures of the club that he will be able to take the reigns, so investment is needed.

Currently, it seems that Milan are all-in for two strikers, Benjamin Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee, but, MilanNews have claimed that they should keep their options open, with another of their interests being available for an incredible price.

The Rossoneri have tracked Jonathan David for several years now, and leading up to the January window reports suggested a move could be made at the first opportunity presented in 2024. However, the club opted to wait until the summer to make their move for a striker.

David, whose contract expires in 2025, will be available for €30 million or less, which presents the club with an incredible opportunity. Not only would they be getting a proven goalscorer, but the Canadian is fluid in his position, given he is comfortable playing across the front three.

He was tasked with replacing Victor Osimhen at Lille when the Nigerian striker left for Napoli, and he has done so with great success, proving consistently to be an excellent frontman for club and country. Therefore, in the current market, his current price tag presents an opportunity that Milan, perhaps, have to act on after years of interest.
