GdS: Jonathan David back in red-hot form – he is still on Milan’s list

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are preparing to invest in a new centre-forward ahead of the summer window and there are a number of candidates on their list, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Milan are waiting for a decision from Olivier Giroud regarding another potential one-year extension given that the MLS tempts him, while they must in turn decide whether to extend Luka Jovic’s contract.

Regardless of what happens with both, they must also sign a new striker. The management are looking for a young striker who can guarantee goals now but – in line with the project – can grow into an even better player.

Two names top the list: Joshua Zirkzee and Benjamin Sesko. However, for Sesko a difficult negotiation with RB Leipzig beckons and for Zirkzee there is strong competition in addition to Bayern Munich’s €40m buy-back clause.

Who are the alternatives? Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord, Jonathan David of Lille and Viktor Gyökeres of Sporting CP are all on the list. It will be important to understand what Zlatan Ibrahimovic thinks, but the paper add that David will not arrive ‘on sale’ as was thought previously.

Even though David has a deal which expires in June 2025 and he had a difficult start to the season, he has had a real resurgence in 2024 as he now has 21 goals for the season.

The Canada international is only 24 years of age and has now racked up 79 goals in 172 appearances for Lille plus 16 assists, as well as 26 goals in 45 caps for his country.

Milan have been linked with David for several transfer windows now given the good relations between the clubs, and they even saw a late summer attempt rebuffed.

  1. This guy again.
    Milan doesn’t need him.
Milan already has a Jonathan David in their squad. His name is Noah Okafor.
    Same player.

      1. The daily Boilden’s ignorant response.
It’s called an opinion, not the law. Everything that is written here is just an opinion by the people capable of forming their own opinions.
Unfortunately, you don’t have that capacity, so you have to resort to silly remarks under other people’s comments.

          1. “Then stop saying dumb sh*t all the time!!!”
            Yep, take your own advice.
Say it to yourself at least 3 times every time you are about to write something here:
            Stop saying dumb sh!t
            Boulden!
            Stop saying dumb sh!t Boulden!
            Stop saying dumb sh!t Boulden!

    1. Yeah because 50 career goals vs 143 goals is totally the same player. They’re not even in the same league. Literally and figuratively.

  2. Sesko and Zubimendi together will cost 110 million on two release clauses. That is what our budget will be for the summer after selling the loan players and adding the 50 million from the management. Those two are all we need to complete the team and we won’t have to do a full-on revolution once again

    1. I dig you but unfortunately that’s not the case anymore. You should understand by now, our limit is 20 millions per player or max 20 millions +10 in bonuses.

It’s about increasing the value of asset and resell for high profit while finding cheaper moneyball alternatives and try to be competitive on a high level.

      Rinse and repeat.

    2. And if they failed , who will take responsibility splash 110m euro for 2 player? It is very big for italian club but small for EPL Club. You sell loan player like CDK,Origi,Saladmaker,Ballotoure , you can only get 40m euro maximum if lucky.
