MN: Jovic back at Milanello – renewal to be announced but another striker is wanted

Luka Jovic was back at Milanello this morning to reunite with the squad after a post-Euros vacation, and an intriguing few weeks away regarding his future.

In the first friendly of the summer for Paulo Fonseca’s Milan, played against Rapid Wien in Austria and they found it tough. Obviously match fitness is still to be built up, but it was above all the absence of the internationals that means preparation can only go so far.

According to MilanNews, the first to return out of those who were at either the European Championship or the Copa America was Jovic, given that Serbia suffered an elimination in the group stages.

The striker showed up this morning at Milanello to take part in the double training session scheduled by Fonseca. The official confirmation of his renewal has not yet arrived via press release, but it has been signed.

Jovic earned a one-year extension with the nine goals he scored last season. However, the idea is not to leave him as the only deputy for Alvaro Morata as happened last year with Olivier Giroud, but to pair him with another striker.

Niclas Fullkrug is the name at the top of the list and while Milan have an agreement with the player they must find one with Borussia Dortmund, who are asking for €15m.
