There were some doubts about Ibrahimovic’s future as a player when a statement on the club’s official website in May confirmed that Ibrahimovic underwent an operation on his left knee in Lyon and that his estimated recovery time is 7-8 months.

However, since then there have been widespread reports that the 40-year-old wants to keep playing and is not satisfied with the idea of his career ending that way, and as such there has been an abundance of speculation claiming that a new one-year contract extension is the most likely outcome.

According to what MilanNews are reporting, the Milan management are currently defining Ibrahimovic’s contract extension and it is clear that they are very close to reaching a full agreement, because they add that the renewal will be announced next week.
