This was highlighted by MilanNews in an editorial today, stating that Stefano Pioli has treated Pobega as Kessie’s replacement. The Italian was on loan at Torino this past season and he did really well, but replicating that at Milan won’t be easy.
Pobega has played in many different positions over the last few years but he hasn’t really been tested in a midfield tandem. This became evident in the game against FC Köln as while his positioning was decent, he lacked focus when in possession.
Of course, with so many new things to learn, it will take some time and that is something that he has. The opening of the season is over a month away and Milan will have three friendlies between now and then. The first indications are positive, in other words, but hard work is needed.
