MN: A €40-50m first choice and an opportunity – what filters on Milan’s No.9 pursuit

A large chunk of AC Milan’s summer budget will go on a new centre-forward and there are two names that stand out above all the others at the moment, a report claims.

As MilanNews report, Milan will make a big investment to replace the departing Olivier Giroud who seems more and more convinced of moving the Los Angeles FC in the MLS, because they need guarantees when it comes to goals in view of 2024-25 and future seasons.

Joshua Zirkzee is the top name on the list of Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada as we approach the summer mercato. The Bologna striker ticks a lot of boxes for Milan because he is young, scores goals, knows the league and has an aesthetically pleasing style.

The operation is not simple though, given that the starting price will be at least €40-50m and the competition – both from Italian clubs and those abroad – promises to be very strong.

There is another option too: Jonathan David of Lille. Despite there being a decrease in approval compared to previous months and last summer, the Canadian has returned to scoring frequently in recent matches, after a rather difficult first part of the season.

The Lille striker is currently on 22 goals in all competitions. The advantage of the operation lies in the expiry of David’s contract, set for 2025, which would consequently allow a negotiation at lower prices than those of Zirkzee.
