Confirmation has arrived from Croatia that Luka Modric has decided to play another season with AC Milan.

The rumours have been in the air for a couple of weeks, but now the confirmation – although not yet official – comes directly from Croatia. Modric – according to the Croatian website Germanijak (via MilanNews) – has decided to continue his career at Milan.
They state: “He will sign a new annual contract with the Rossoneri club midweek, most likely on Wednesday. Modric will sign a new contract with the same conditions as last season, namely 3.5 million euros plus bonuses.”
Another positive note
Ruben Amorim will be happy, having spoken about Modric during his presentation press conference, stating: “I think he’s a key player for us, especially at the start, to get more possession. I’m not saying he’ll play every game, but we really want to be able to count on him next season.”
Germanijak also reports that, four days ago, Modric had lunch with the new Croatia coach Slavan Bilić in Zadar. During his first press conference as national team boss, had publicly announced his intention to ask the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner if he could continue wearing the checkered shirt.
There is still talk that Modric might say goodbye to the national team with a ceremony during the Nations League match between Croatia and Spain, on October 6 in Poljud. In the meantime, he will continue to fight to get Milan back to being top of Italy.
