Moretto: ‘Follow closely’ – Milan set sights on left-footed central defender

Paulo Fonseca has expressed his desire to bring another central defender to AC Milan in the summer mercato, with the view of supporting Fikayo Tomori in the defence, and it seems the club have started their journey to bring one to the club.

Milan’s Achilles heel last season was their defensive problems, and the management are refusing to allow that to repeat itself next season. Therefore, even before Fonseca’s arrival, a new central defender was expected to arrive in the summer.

However, the Portuguese coach has not opposed this idea and is keen to strengthen his backline, which has gotten weaker due to the departure of Simon Kjaer. Therefore, if there was a desire for one previously, a new central defender is now a requirement.

In the past week, the links between the Rossoneri and Strahinja Pavlovic have been on the rise, and now, Matteo Moretto (via Radio Rossonera) has reported that it is a deal to ‘follow closely’.

Fonseca has been keen to find a partner for Fikayo Tomori, specifically looking at a left-sided centre-back to allow the Englishman to play on his preferred side. However, the player must also be left-footed, to allow his side to progress from the back more naturally.
