Whilst the defensive issues were shown at their worst before January, there was no permanent action taken by Milan other than Matteo Gabbia’s Villarreal loan being cut short. Offers were made for several players, but nothing was finalised, opening an avenue for the summer.

As a result, it has meant that the area must be revisited in this window, but they might not attempt to pursue the same targets they previously had in mind. For example, Alessandro Buongiorno’s price tag was unable to be met in the winter, and now, it has risen further, making him seem unattainable.

Therefore, the club must now be smart with their investments, especially considering there are other areas to strengthen. Milan Press have reported that the Rossoneri have been offered Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, who they have previously been interested in.

The Englishman has struggled this season and is seemingly out of favour at the club, and they could look to recoup some of their losses on him after spending €94 million on him in 2019. As the report suggests, his agents have offered him to Milan, and he could arrive for a reasonable price of €20m.
