It is fair to say that since he has moved to Italy, Musah has not had the best start to life. With Milan, he was never a starter, and he never had a solid position within the team. Nevertheless, this is not necessarily a bad thing.
He is still young enough to pick up the pieces elsewhere, and with Atalanta, that was the hope. However, this season has been a continuation of his issues, rather than a solution, really.
Changing fortunes?
As Calciomercato.com write, this season, he has been Atalanta’s least used player this season, with only 723 minutes played, with only three starts. Yet, this has never changed his attitude, and last weekend he bagged a first goal in four years.
He followed it up with another important one in midweek, a goal in the Coppa Italia against Lazio, where the Nerazzurri have high hopes of progression.
It now opens the question of his future. The Begamese outfit paid €4.5 million to have him on loan this season, and it seemed that the €20m buy clause would not be touched. Yet, this is now potentially not the case anymore. Indeed, the topic of him staying permanently is being discussed.
A discount may be sought, and considering that he is not a part of the plans at Milanello, it may be granted.
