Mediaset: New issue arises in stadium project as ASM Global offer to ‘modernise’ San Siro

Another twist has arrived in the new stadium project as a group have come forward offering to ‘save’ the current San Siro, a report claims.

SportMediaset (via Calciomercato.com) report that the path towards getting the green light for the construction of the new stadium of Inter and Milan risks suffering a new setback and this time it is not because of the Council’s process.

The Mayor of Milano – Beppe Sala – has received an interesting an concrete proposal on his desk regarding the preservation of the current San Siro as it is now. It has arrived from from ASM Global, an international company that organises show events around the world and personally manages hundreds of stadiums worldwide.

The entertainment company has offered to take care of Giuseppe Meazza and have asked to meet with the Council of Milan so that a solution can be found that will mean the current San Siro stadium is not demolished.

The letter is signed by CEO Giuseppe Rizzello and explains the group’s proposal specifying that – unlike what emerged from the public debate – an interest on the part of third parties in taking over the current stadium exists.

“Our company is ready to discuss with you [the mayor], The search for a solution that allows not to demolish the structure, to modernise it and at the same time avoid the direct management of the plant by the Council of Milan,” it began.

“With our proposal, strengthened by our specific expertise on a world level, we would therefore try to enhance even more a stadium already famous in the world, and one of the symbols of industriousness, ingenuity and talents expressed, in almost a hundred years of sporting and cultural history of this now iconic place, from the city of Milan.”
