AC Milan have officially announced the signing of defender Sankhoun Diawara from Troyes on a five-year contract.

Virtually every major source had reported in the past few days that the deal for Diawara was done. Initially it was expected that he would join Milan Futuro, but it seems that he will be the new deputy to Strahinja Pavlovic.
From his highlights it is clear to see the talent and potential that the France U19 international has, especially given he was a starter in a team that earned promotion. There are some parallels with the signing of Pierre Kalulu from Lyon a few years ago.
Diawara to AC Milan: Now it’s official
A statement on the official website reads as follows: “AC Milan today announced the signing of Sankhoun Diawara from ESTAC Troyes. The French defender has signed a contract with the Club until 30 June 2031, with an option to extend.”
Born in Paris on 13 January 2006, Diawara developed through the youth academies of FC Solitaires Paris and CA Paris-Charenton before joining Troyes’ academy in 2020.
Having completed his development with the French club, he made his first-team debut in November 2024 in the Coupe de France. The following season, he made 17 appearances across the league and domestic cup competitions, helping Troyes secure promotion to Ligue 1 and win the Ligue 2 title.
His performances quickly established him as one of the most promising young defenders in French football. A left-footed centre-back, Diawara combines technical quality, physical strength and personality.
These attributes make him a highly promising talent, already proven at professional level in France and ready to continue his development in the Rossoneri colours. The statement also confirms that he will wear the number 13 shirt.
