Official: AC Milan confirm signing of Malick Thiaw on long-term deal

AC Milan have announced the signing of Malick Thiaw from Schalke 04. The centre-back penned a long-term deal with the club at Casa Milan this evening and he will join the team immediately.

The news of an agreement first broke after Milan’s game against Bologna on Saturday, with Stefano Pioli even sharing his thoughts on the player. Today, Thiaw underwent the medical tests and also signed his contract with the club.

Just a few minutes ago, Milan announced the transfer on their official website, stating that the centre-back has penned a deal until 2027 with the club. The transfer, as expected, is a permanent one and not a loan.

“AC Milan is delighted to announce that Malick Thiaw has joined the Club on a permanent basis from FC Schalke 04. The German defender has signed a deal with the Rossoneri lasting until 30 June 2027,” the statement read.

The Rossoneri will pay around €7m plus bonuses for Thiaw and the salary will be around €800k per year. Considering the defender’s young age (21), it’s an investment that certainly aligns with Milan’s philosophy and project. He will wear the No.28 shirt.
