There was a lot of doubt surrounding when the penultimate round of the 2025-26 season would be played. The league like the final two rounds to be played simultaneously if teams are still battling for position, to ensure a kind of competitive fairness.
Sunday early kick-off confirmed
However, the issue with round 37 of this campaign is that it will see Roma take on Lazio in the derby, a fixture in which there are naturally a lot of safety concerns and public order guidelines that need to be adhered to. So, the league’s solution is simple: play all the relevant games in the early slot.
Another complication is the Italian Open tennis final also at the Foro Italico this weekend. So, as the official website has confirmed this morning, Genoa vs. AC Milan will be played on Sunday 17 May at 12:30 CEST.
Roma vs. Lazio, Como vs. Parma, Juventus vs. Fiorentina and Pisa vs. Napoli will all kick off on Sunday at the same time. If Napoli had won last night against Bologna to secure a top four finish their game would have been moved, but they lost 3-2.
As a reminder, Milan must win both of their last two games to secure a spot in the Champions League. After a run of two wins in eight games, though, this is a lot easier said than done.
