Official: Marciniak will officiate Dinamo Zagreb clash – the precedent with Milan

AC Milan will face Dinamo Zagreb in the penultimate round of the Champions League group stage on Tuesday. It’s a crucial clash for the Rossoneri and UEFA have now announced the referee that will be in charge.

Following the defeats to Chelsea, Stefano Pioli’s men more or less need to win the games against Dinamo Zagreb and Salzburg to advance to the knockout stage. A draw in one of the could be enough, but will depend on other results.

As announced by UEFA, via Calciomercato.com, the Polish referee Szymon Marciniak will officiate Tuesday’s clash. He has only been in charge of one Milan clash before, namely the 3-2 defeat away at Liverpool last year.

There were no real controversies in that game but it’s worth noting that he awarded a penalty to Liverpool for a handball on Ismael Bennacer. The Milan fans thought it was a tough call but the rules forced Marciniak to below his whistle.
