Calciomercato.com report that Origi should sign his deal with Milan after the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid which will be his last hurrah for the Reds. The last obstacle was the possibility that a renewal clause could be triggered upon reaching a certain number of appearances for the season appears to be no problem.
Any extension would have led the Rossoneri to have to pay compensation to the Premier League club, just as happened a year ago with the arrival of Olivier Giroud from Chelsea. The French forward was out of contract but the Blues had a unilateral option to extend him by a year which they took, so Milan had to pay a token transfer fee.
Unlike last summer, the same ‘problem’ will not arise in the Origi deal as Liverpool will not trigger any extension. Talks with Origi and his entourage began in March, he said ‘no’ to offers from German and English clubs – including Newcastle – and will sign a four-year deal worth €4m net per season.
