Pellegatti: Empoli and Chelsea games at risk for Rebic as hernia persists

Ante Rebic has been out of action for almost a month and it doesn’t look like his return to the pitch is imminent. Bad news for Stefano Pioli, who has been forced to rely on the condition of Olivier Giroud.

For this past weekend’s game against Napoli, Milan played with Rade Krunic as the left-winger and Giroud up front. Rafael Leao was suspended and that certainly exposed Milan’s injury struggles in attack, with Divock Origi also injured.

According to the reliable Carlo Pellegatti, as cited by SempreMilan.it, Milan had been hoping for some good news regarding Rebic’s condition. However, he’s still experiencing pain due to the hernia and a return isn’t imminent.

In fact, in spite of the international break, he probably won’t make it back for the games against Empoli and Chelsea. One should remember that once the hernia isn’t an issue anymore, he must also regain match fitness and that will take a while.
