Pioli implies silverware is a must to keep his job at Milan for next season

Stefano Pioli provided an interesting answer to the very last question of today’s press conference, which took place at Milanello. When asked if he could get another 200 games in charge of AC Milan, he implied that silverware is a must.

The manager reached 200 appearances as the head coach of the Rossoneri earlier this week. He didn’t get to enjoy it properly as Paris Saint-Germain prevailed 3-0 on the night, but he was celebrated by the team at Milanello yesterday.

At the end of today’s press conference (see video below) ahead of the Napoli clash, Pioli was asked about adding another 200 games to his name as the head coach of Milan. In his response, however, he implied that this season is make or break for him: “It would mean that we will celebrate in May.”

In other words, without the Scudetto or a very good season, Pioli’s position would come under scrutiny. Tomorrow’s clash against Napoli is almost a must-win for the Rossoneri after two tough defeats and it remains to be seen how they will respond.
