Sky: Pioli puts Milan squad through their paces with extended training session

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli put the squad firmly through their paces at Milanello today with an extended session, according to a report.

It has not been a nice return to competitive action for Milan in 2023, as a 2-1 win over Salernitana was followed by a 2-2 draw against Roma that featured a late collapse from two goals up, then a Coppa Italia defeat to 10-man Torino.

A 2-2 draw with Lecce followed after an awful first half, a 3-0 defeat to Inter in the Supercoppa, then a 4-0 loss to Lazio and most recently a 5-2 hammering by Sassuolo just prior to the window closing.

According to what Manuele Baiocchini reported for Sky (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri’s session this morning at Milanello was longer than usual. Normally Pioli’s sessions last about an hour and twenty minutes or an hour and a half, but this morning the it lasted 40 minutes longer than usual.

The coach has asked all the players to pay the utmost attention in preparing the tactical part in view of Sunday evening’s derby against Inter.
