Pioli insists Milan are not ‘nervous or anxious’ but names the key qualities they are lacking

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli bemoaned the way Daniele Doveri handled the allocation of injury time, and admitted his side ‘didn’t create many chances’.

With Inter having won against Hellas Verona on Saturday and Napoli losing at home to Fiorentina earlier today, the Rossoneri knew that they would go four points clear in the race for the Scudetto with a win in Turin, but they did not even manage a goal.

It is a second straight stalemate after the disappointing 0-0 draw against Bologna earlier in the week and there seems to be some problems with the attack, which was much more free-flowing during the early stages of the season.

After the draw against Torino, Stefano Pioli spoke to DAZN and reflected on another disjointed looking performance from his team, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

On his protests at the end of the game: “I told the referee not to say that they will recover [lost time] and then instead they do nothing so as not to lose the rhythm of the game. When do you play in injury time? You have to give rhythm to the game.”

On the match: “We did everything to try not to give Torino points of reference. We didn’t create many chances, but there were many situations that could lead to important chances. We are less precise, in terms of spirit I cannot say anything. team. We miss the leap, we wanted to win tonight.”

On the moment of the team: “The league is competitive, there are difficulties for everyone. We did everything tonight to put Torino in difficulty, but we lacked a bit of clarity. We always have to think that we can do something better.”

On the management of expectations: “I do not see a nervous or anxious team. We played, we were compact, then it is clear that we all know how heavy these games are. There is more pressure in the final matches. We are a young team but who knows how to manage management well. We have to try to do better and better. There are only a few games left and we are still there.”

On the Scudetto: “Percentages? I don’t do them. First we were favorites, then Napoli, then Inter. Anything can happen again.”
