GdS: Extra midfielder or two up front – Pioli pondering change of system for Milan

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli could make some tactical changes to help his side get out of the rut they currently find themselves in, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) takes a look at the alterations that the Milan boss could decide to make to bring his team back from the quicksand, after a difficult start to 2023 in which a lot of the certainties have vanished.

The two solutions in mind are centred around different ideas, with the first suggestion being a return to the 4-3-3 system in order to add an extra body to the midfield to increase physicality. That could be Rade Krunic who is expected back from injury soon, or Tommaso Pobega.

The other hypothesis is a potential change back to a 4-4-2 which we have already seen Pioli use, with the aim of supporting Olivier Giroud by putting another forward next to him, such as Charles De Ketelaere or Divock Origi.
