AC Milan have not had much luck with injuries recently, and Gianluigi Donnarumma is the latest to find himself on the treatment table.
Donnarumma came off in the 52nd minute of Milan’s 1-1 draw with Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Saturday night with what looked to be a fairly innocuous injury.
It became apparent that the 20-year-old was hobbling off the field and was ultimately replaced by Asmir Begovic, who did well on his debut for the Rossoneri making a couple of important saves, although he couldn’t keep out Erick Pulgar’s late penalty.
After the game, Pioli spoke to the media and was asked about the condition of Gianluigi Donnarumma. His comments were transcribed by MilanNews.
“He suffered an ankle trauma. It is a sprain but I don’t know the extent,” he said.
Donnarumma becomes the latest in Milan’s group of injured players, which includes the likes of Simon Kjaer, Lucas Biglia, Rade Krunic and Leo Duarte.
