PM: Conte’s candidacy ‘not strong at all’ as Milan hold Motta in high regard

Thiago Motta

Antonio Conte has been heavily linked with taking over AC Milan from next season in the last few weeks. However, as a report claims, his candidacy is not strong and the Rossoberi have another name in pole position.

Stefano Pioli’s tenure will come to an end in the summer and Milan have already started the search for a new manager. Many names have been mentioned in the last few months, but the two most concrete ones appear to be Conte and Thiago Motta.

According to PianetaMilan, despite the recent rumours, Conte’s candidacy for the job is ‘not strong at all’. It’s not because of his high salary or budget demands, but rather his attitude which Milan believe might not be suitable for this squad.

The favourite for the job, meanwhile, is Motta and his contract with Bologna will expire at the end of the season. He has done very well with several talents, and with the potential to become a really good manager in the future. His playing style, using the 4-2-3-1 formation, also suits the Rossoneri.

There is still a long way to go until the summer meaning things could change, but for now Motta is the clear favourite to take over Milan after Pioli. It also remains to be seen if Zlatan Ibrahimovic will push for Conte.
