PM: Conte’s candidacy ‘not strong at all’ as Milan hold Motta in high regard

By Isak Möller -

Antonio Conte has been heavily linked with taking over AC Milan from next season in the last few weeks. However, as a report claims, his candidacy is not strong and the Rossoberi have another name in pole position.

Stefano Pioli’s tenure will come to an end in the summer and Milan have already started the search for a new manager. Many names have been mentioned in the last few months, but the two most concrete ones appear to be Conte and Thiago Motta.

According to PianetaMilan, despite the recent rumours, Conte’s candidacy for the job is ‘not strong at all’. It’s not because of his high salary or budget demands, but rather his attitude which Milan believe might not be suitable for this squad.

The favourite for the job, meanwhile, is Motta and his contract with Bologna will expire at the end of the season. He has done very well with several talents, and with the potential to become a really good manager in the future. His playing style, using the 4-2-3-1 formation, also suits the Rossoneri.

There is still a long way to go until the summer meaning things could change, but for now Motta is the clear favourite to take over Milan after Pioli. It also remains to be seen if Zlatan Ibrahimovic will push for Conte.

  1. Mota is another Pioli
The Austarian who won the Eruoe league is even bettwr than Tiago Motta.
Zanedine Zidane is the better Option if they do not Hire Conte.

    1. I am a big fan of Oliver Glasner and yes u agree he is better than Motta. He won the Europa league with Eintract Frankfurt and the played great football. The squad formation wouldn’t change much as he often uses 4321 or 433. He has used 343 or 3421 in the past as well.

If we don’t get Conte then I would prefer Oliver Glasner.

    2. Zidane literally never coached without Ronaldo or having all star squad

and why tf would a former trash Juve player be welcome here

  2. I am a big fan of a coach named poli ..yes you heard .
If you think that by hiring another coach ,next year we will win seara an and the champions leauge ,dream on . I have been involved in football for a long time ,,bully tactics of some coaches will not work ..
Pioli is well liked by the players and that’s a step in the right direction…We are doing well ,much better than some of you are suggesting…indeed under poili we did indeed win the scuddeto,,,yes this year things have not gone as well as we had perhaps expected,,,but things have not gone our way this season ,,,decisions have gone against us ..
The midfield to me has really been the problem this season ,,.but we have had more than our share of injuries to contend with ..if we want to win a major trophy again stick with the coach we have .
We have a new group of players ,,and it takes time to gel together..nothing is instant only coffee ☕️ but sometimes you even have to wait for that .
We are however still doing well in the leauge .
It’s Roma tomorrow and another three points .
I have complete confidence in our coach and our team …changing a manger will not bring instant results ..

    1. I agree with a lot of this – it’s a wonder we’re 3rd considering the s*it he’s been through this season -but come on man it’s time for fresh ideas. 5 years is a long enough run for him.

          1. Hur dur…suck a Richard.

Boulden, accept the fact you know very little in life and you’ll shake that grumpy demeanor you have.

    2. Yea I don’t think people realize we’d be starting back at year zero with no guarantees that we’d do any better. At least with Pioli we are almost guaranteed UCL spots . Not to mention what he’s doing with an injury ravaged squad

      1. “Not to mention what he’s doing with an injury ravaged squad” and what makes you think that this is somehow gonna get better overtime ?

  3. Board is looking for someone who ‘might’ do something with empty pocket. They know they can’t fu*k with Conte. I am fine with Motta as well. So no big deal. But we have become famous for being embarrassed at the last minutes. So, it is hard to believe someone else will take Motta in the last moment in summer, meanwhile Conte will be goon too lol.

    1. why would de zerbi coming to smaller team. brighton play on the best league in the world with great stadium attendance average, better stadium more modern than milan, and has bigger transfer budget. milan is midtable team same as brighton and with smaller budget, small club murican president, worse facility and stadium, de zerbi has no reason to left for small club milan.

  4. I prefer Thiago over Conte because he fits into our project with our parameters. Motta is a bigger risk and Conte is a proven winner with big clubs. But Motta can develop our youth more whereas Conte looks for experience and proven difference makers.

Having said that, Conte could also take the talents of Leao, Theo, puli to the next level. However he could also alienate the players we just brought in.

“RLC? I don’t like him – ship him out” for example. Now Conte understands the limitations in Serie A and should understands what the teams can bring in and not bring in under the financial parameters.
If he is interested in Milan, my guess is that it is because he sees enough to work with at Milan to succeed.

I could see the coaching job go either way.

  5. Oliver Glasner, Xabi Alonso & Hansi Flick should be the only options. I feel like Milan needs a foreign coach to really shake things up not only in Milan but also in Serie A as a whole
