One of our reporters spoke to one of Giroud’s agents after the summit today in which he gave a rather cryptic response. According to the latest update from Gianluca Di Marzio, the meeting was positive but has not yet led to an agreement for the renewal of the Frenchman’s contract.

The difference between the parties is currently minimal, around €200-300k between the salary offer put forward by the Rossoneri and the demands of his entourage. More specifically, the 36-year-old today earns about €3.7m net per year including bonuses while now he is asking for a renewal at €3.7m plus bonuses.

The parties will speak again shortly since there is a mutual will to reach an agreement, with Giroud having rejected a potential move to Everton late in the January window.
