In the past two seasons, Christian Pulisic has been the main guy for Milan, providing on so many occasions when others haven’t. So, talks of a renewal were not unexpected. With everything going quite well, there was confidence about the situation.
However, this has been put on hold.
According to Matteo Moretto, despite everything being agreed and only a signature required, Pulisic has paused the discussions and renewal process. Largely because he wants to understand the direction of the club and the plans for the future.
Moretto, in his tweet, cites the American’s desire for clarification on the sporting director situation, as well as who will be the next head, before he agrees to commit his future to the club.
Considering a number of big clubs are sniffing around his situation, any signs of discontent could be pounced upon, especially if he eventually decides against a renewal.
In turn, you would imagine that this would lessen his value, considering everything has been agreed. Whether he would push for an exit is another thing entirely if he didn’t agree with the project. However, it makes the club more vulnerable in a summer where they could be stripped.
