As Calciomercato.com recall, Rabiot was shown a yellow card in the 80th minute of the derby win over Inter for a foul on Denzel Dumfries. Now, the French midfielder will be forced to miss the next Serie A match at the Stadio Olimpico against Lazio, having hit the threshold of five yellows.

A big absence

It will be a significant absence for the Rossoneri, given the former Juventus player’s absolute centrality in Allegri’s tactical plan. In the six games played without Rabiot, Milan only managed two wins, also collecting three draws and one defeat.

The points average is 1.5, significantly lower than the 2.55 that Milan averages with Rabiot on the pitch. Allegri must find a way though with the title race now potentially reopened again, so who will play in place of Rabiot?

Considering that Luka Modric and Youssouf Fofana – who was crucial with his assist for Pervis Estupinan – will be on the pitch from the start for the Biancocelesti, there are two players fighting for the remaining spot: Ardon Jashari and Samuele Ricci.

As things stand, the former Torino player is ahead in the pecking order, but the Swiss midfielder is pushing to return to the pitch and demonstrate what he can do.
