MN: Rebic breaks a five-month drought – Pioli hopes he has an extra weapon in trophy pursuit

There weren’t many positives to take from the 2-2 draw with Salernitana, but one of them was that Ante Rebic got his first goal for five months.

MilanNews recalls how it was his equaliser against Juventus back on September 19 that marked the last time the Croatian had scored, having battled an ankle injury and muscle strains since then. With only 817 minutes played across all competitions and with 3 goals and 2 assists to his name, the hope is that Rebic has turned a corner.

Rafael Leao’s success on the left wing has also certainly influenced his minutes and expectations having taken the starting spot on the left wing definitively and have relegated Rebic to a supporting role, but Rebic must always be ready when Stefano Pioli calls him into question.

There are 12 league matches and at least two Coppa Italia games until the end of the season meaning we have now entered the crucial phase, one where making mistakes can be fatal, and if Rebic proves to be back on song he could be the extra weapon in both the title race and the quest for a first Italian Cup win since 2003.
