Reijnders says he ‘cannot wait’ to face Liverpool after new position ‘felt good’

Ahead of the big clash between AC Milan and Liverpool this evening, Tijjani Reijnders spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on the task at hand. He was also asked about his new role, playing behind the striker in the attacking trio.

Milan bounced back with a necessary 4-0 victory against Venezia on Saturday evening and thus restored some much-needed confidence. However, tonight’s clash will still be very tough and Reijnders will play an important part for the Rossoneri.

Speaking to Sky Italia and Prime ahead of the game, as cited by MilanNews, the Dutchman shared his thoughts on the game and his new role under Paulo Fonseca. Indeed, he’s starting in the No.10 role once again after the positive performance against Venezia.

On the game…

“It’s always fantastic to play in the Champions League and now with the new season, I cannot wait for the game to start tonight. After a long time, I played in the No.10 role at Milan. It went well, I found my spaces between the lines and I felt good after the game.”

On Arne Slot, his coach at AZ Alkmaar and now Liverpool manager…

“He is a very strong tactical coach, he made a fantastic transition to Liverpool and I’m very happy to see him tonight.”

It remains to be seen if Milan can clinch all three points tonight, though most fans would probably be happy with a draw. Inter are up at the weekend and losing would certainly add fuel to the fire, which could be both negative and positive.
