CorSera: Release clause remains stumbling block for Leao renewal – the figures

The release clause remains a major stumbling block for the renewal of Rafael Leao’s AC Milan contract as his agents want it lowered, a report claims.

As has been reported by Corriere della Sera (via Milan News), Leao’s entourage would like the €150 million release clause to be lowered significantly in the new contract.

They would like it to be set at €70-80 million, a figure that some of the elite teams in Europe would be able to meet with relative ease.

Milan, on the other hand, would like the clause to be removed altogether so that they can negotiate any potential departure rather than be held to a clause.

The negotiations were reported to have slowed down in recent weeks, although the club have refuted these claims.

Many fear that the possibility of missing out on the Champions League will stop Leao from agreeing on terms as Milan’s poor form continues.
