AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli could consider a formation change if the number one midfield target arrives this summer, a report claims.
Calciomercato.com claim that Renato Sanches is the player that Milan really want to replace Franck Kessie, whose contract expires at the end of the season, so much so that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara tried everything to sign him in January but failed to get a deal over the line in the end.
Nonetheless, talks will continue in view the summer, when Milan will try and close a double transaction with Lille that could also bring Sven Botman to Italy in a double deal potentially worth €50m or €60m.
It is an important investment that confirms Maldini and Massara’s belief in the qualities of the Portuguese international, and interestingly the report also mentions that there could be a formation change on the cards if he does arrive.
Renato Sanches is more of a box-to-box midfielder than Kessie who he would be replacing, so it could mean that a 4-3-3 is experimented with as has been discussed numerous times in the past.
