Romagnoli responds to Il Messaggero and accuses them of ‘inventing’ story

AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli has strongly denied the idea that he told Lazio fans he would like to join the club as soon as possible.

Romagnoli is out of contract at the end of the season and there are a number of sources reporting that a move to boyhood club Lazio could well be on the cards, but there is certainly nothing signed nor any suggestions that a signature is imminent.

Today’s edition of Il Messaggero (via MilanNews) reported that Romagnoli addressed some Lazio fans on Sunday evening after leaving the Stadio Olimpico and spoke about his possible transfer to the Biancoceleste: “If it were up to me, I would come tomorrow.”

The Rossoneri defender denied everything via a statement on his Instagram profile, writing: “This morning Il Messaggero attributed this sentence to me about Lazio: ‘If it were up to me I would come tomorrow’, I do not understand how a newspaper can invent, from nothing and without respect, such a sentence.”
