Romagnoli responds to Il Messaggero and accuses them of ‘inventing’ story

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli has strongly denied the idea that he told Lazio fans he would like to join the club as soon as possible.

Romagnoli is out of contract at the end of the season and there are a number of sources reporting that a move to boyhood club Lazio could well be on the cards, but there is certainly nothing signed nor any suggestions that a signature is imminent.

Today’s edition of Il Messaggero (via MilanNews) reported that Romagnoli addressed some Lazio fans on Sunday evening after leaving the Stadio Olimpico and spoke about his possible transfer to the Biancoceleste: “If it were up to me, I would come tomorrow.”

The Rossoneri defender denied everything via a statement on his Instagram profile, writing: “This morning Il Messaggero attributed this sentence to me about Lazio: ‘If it were up to me I would come tomorrow’, I do not understand how a newspaper can invent, from nothing and without respect, such a sentence.”

  1. Professional until the end, grande Capitano.
I would love that he could stay, but let face it; he need playing time Milan can´t provide.
Good luck in your future endeavours Alessio

  2. i like alessio Romagnoli as person and player he always respected the club and act professionally at all time
as player he was so good at young age for some time he was best player in milan but since Bonucci joined he decline and he never show any improvement since he join us from roma maybe because of injuries maybe he just peak at young age anyway i wish him all the luck in future if he stay or he go

  3. He must go to get playing time , benched and become 4th choice next season not good for his career . He will never choose to italy national team if stay at the bench in AC Milan . For AC Milan it is good too, since it Will give kalulu more room as 3rd CB compete with botman -tomori for starting spot

  4. Respect capt. He always professional as ever, never complain, and respect the club. Personally I want him at Milan forever. But for the sake of his career, he need to move to another club that can gave him starting line up.
