CorSport: Romagnoli’s future thrust into uncertainty as talks with Lazio stall

Alessio Romagnoli’s future remains unclear because he is not yet close to agreeing terms with Lazio over a summer move, a report claims.

Despite having been one of the club’s better and more consistent servants since arriving back in 2015 from Roma, the last few months have not been the best for Romagnoli. His performances have not been consistent meaning he has lost a guaranteed starting spot, while he is also battling repeated injuries.

His contract expires in June 2022 meaning his future is reaching a natural crossroads anyway, and his agent Mino Raiola is a tough negotiator of course.

Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) report how it seemed like Romagnoli’s landing at Lazio was certain but in the last few days the track has been cooling down. The negotiations have stalled as there is no agreement on the salary, with the Aquile offering €2.2m net per season plus bonuses while Romagnoli wants €3m.

Therefore, the future of the Italian defender remains uncertain and there is perhaps a window for Milan to make a new bid, or for a new suitor to come forward altogether.
