Romano: Milan inform Bologna they will trigger Zirkzee clause – a ‘crucial point’ awaits

AC Milan have told Bologna that they will trigger his release clause and now they will work on agreeing terms to wrap up the deal, a report claims.

Zirkzee burst onto the scene during a breakout season with Bologna in 2023-24, scoring 12 goals across all competitions with 11 of them coming in the league.

At 23 years of age the feeling is that he will only grow, and he also added seven assists to his goal tally last season which shows that he is a creative forward.

Milan meanwhile are in the market for a new striker and someone to wear the No.9 shirt for years to come, which means that on paper this could be a marriage made in heaven.

According to what is being reported by Fabrizio Romano, Milan informed Bologna that they are planning to trigger the €40m release clause for Zirzkee, which is active in the summer transfer window.

Talks now ongoing between the Rossoneri management and the Dutchman’s entourage to agree on personal terms, which the journalist claims is a ‘crucial point’ in the entire negotiation.

In a further boost for Geoffrey Moncada and his collaborators, Romano states that Zirzkee is ‘happy to stay in Italy and super keen on the Milan project’.
