Milan and Inter have been trying to build a new stadium for over a year now and despite having accepted compromises and having picked a winning design, the Council of Milan has not yet given the green light.

The tension between Milan and Inter and the city council over the new stadium project seems to be rising, and yesterday some new statements were made in the media as the clubs responded to Mayor Sala’s Instagram post.

Scaroni spoke to Rai Sport about the story linked to the construction of a new stadium far away from the current San Siro site, and certainly did not rule out the idea that Milan and Inter could move away.

“We will do what is necessary to see if we can finally equip Milan with a modern stadium, a stadium that the two clubs deserve. This does not mean that, if things were to be extended further, we would not look at other hypotheses,” he said (via MilanNews).

“I imagine that we will finish building it in 2027-2028, not sooner. If we have a beautiful stadium, like the one we have designed, we can increase our proceeds, invest more in young players. But we have to start from the stadium.”
