Scaroni: “We have a solid balance sheet, and we continue to pursue our targets” – video

AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni has insisted that the ambition of the owners Elliott Management is to take the club ‘where it belongs’ – in the Champions League.

Scaroni spoke to Milan TV about the current positivity surrounding the club and about the long-term aims of the American hedge fund, who of course installed him as the president.

“We are experiencing a fantastic moment on the pitch, there is a collective game that excites and wins, with many young players showing their qualities. Exactly everything we wanted to do in terms of the game,” he said (via MilanNews).

“From the point of view of the company we have had some big losses, which we have covered. We have a solid balance sheet, and we continue to pursue our targets to bring Milan back to Europe, where it belongs.”

On what is needed to relaunch Italian football, he added: “Last week there was a turning point, and I hope it really is, that is that Serie A has found a unanimity to relaunch itself in the world, bringing in professional members who know how to bring Serie A where it has been for many and many years and which unfortunately has lost ground in recent years. The fact that gives me confidence is that a new step has been found for all of us on how to bring Italian football back to the world.”

On the project for the new stadium in Milan: “I should say that it is going well, about ten days ago we presented the new plan which incorporates all the sixteen observations that the council made when we presented the first project.

“This plan was passed from the analysis of the offices of the municipality of Milan. I hope this process is as fast as possible, then it will come back and from that moment we can enter the final design. I expect work on the new stadium to begin next year.”

On Elliott’s support: “The ownership, since I have been president of Milan, has always been there. They supported us as a shareholder, giving us confidence, also giving us managerial contributions, but above all giving us those financial funds that have been essential to keep Milan going in recent years.

“From my position I have always seen Elliott present, Elliott ready to support us, especially by putting hundreds of millions in Milan. However, I have to say, given the press release that Elliott made last week, it seems to me that all doubts can be dispelled.”

On Milan: “We only deal with Milan and we try to live this period of the team and we hope it will last as long as possible. We have many difficult games ahead of us.

“They told me that we have nine games in the next month, we must be focused on the pitch and we must continue to show this beautiful Milan that we have shown in recent months. ”
