Schira: Milan among clubs to enquire about Sassuolo midfielder after relegation

AC Milan are looking for a new central midfielder ahead of the 2024-25 campaign which will begin under a new head coach, and a journalist has claimed that they have turned towards Sassuolo.

According to the journalist Nico Schira, Milan have asked for information from Sassuolo about midfielder Daniel Boloca, who stood out during a difficult season for them which ended with relegation to Serie B.

Boloca was one of the very few positive notes of Neroverdi’s campaign but it was not enough to stop them suffering the drop rather unexpectedly after 11 years in the top flight of Italian football.

He made 30 appearances and scored one goal, and after the relegation he could be one of a few players who looks to move on and secure a move away. The journalist adds that Fiorentina and Lazio – in addition to Milan – have made an enquiry.

Boloca was born in Italy but he made his international debut for the Romania national team on 17 November 2022. Then, in December 2022 he was invited to an Italy training camp.

After that he publicly declared his preference to play for the Azzurri over Romania, though he is yet to make his full debut under Roberto Mancini or Luciano Spalletti as of yet.
