Paris Saint-Germain defender Milan Skriniar has shown his Inter allegiances ahead of the Champions League clash with AC Milan on Tuesday night.
Speaking during his press conference (via Milan News), the Slovakian centre-back who left Inter in the summer to join the French side was asked if he has heard from any of his former teammates in the lead-up to this game.
He stressed that no player has told him he must beat Milan, but he knows that his former fans would certainly enjoy it if PSG win at San Siro tomorrow.
“The derby here was always special. I often hear from my former teammates, we have a very good relationship. Nobody asked me this, but for the Inter fans it’s always nice when Milan lose,” he said.
One of the big talking points is that Gianluigi Donnarumma will be back at San Siro to take on his former team, and Skriniar is well aware of the atmosphere that can be created at the stadium in these sorts of scenarios.
“I know very well that it will be a difficult match, because I played for six years for Inter: I know how to face this stadium as an opponent. We have to stay focused and do our things. If we do that we can get a result,” Skriniar said.
“When you play at home and the fans push you, it can influence you. The same will be the case tomorrow: Milan will have the entire stadium that will push them forward. We also want to achieve good results away from home.”
Skriniar also acknowledged that Milan are in the middle of a dip in form but he knows it will be a really tough Champions League game.
“It will be a special match. Tomorrow a tough match awaits us, different from the first leg. Milan has a bit of difficulty but when you are in a period like this you manage to bring out something more. They have great quality and players, we have to be careful. I’m not saying we can close the group tomorrow but develop the group the way we want,” he said.
