Milan’s form in 2023 has seen them go from challenging for the Scudetto again to now being outside the top four spots. In fact, when looking at points accrued in the calendar year alone, the Rossoneri actually sit in 11th place.

The latest setback came last night as Milan were forced to fight until the end to secure a draw against 19th-placed Cremonese in a game which resembled one from the dark days of 2014 to 2018, losing further ground in the race to secure Champions League qualification.

Peppe Di Stefano spoke live on Sky from the training complex to try and assess the mood in view of Saturday’s crucial game against Lazio at San Siro, with Francesco Nasato relaying his words.

“Not winning on Saturday would be abandoning the Champions League qualification target. Milan economically cannot afford it. There is a mood at Milanello of deep disappointment. Surely the day after tomorrow he [Pioli] will play the best team,” he said.
